Dog Park Excitement

The kids are balanced precariously on top of a huge boulder. Carl might be having concerns about his space allotment in this picture.

LUCY GOOSEY SWIMS!!

Maglet has lately found little creatures that she wants to keep as pets. (Silly me, and I thought that's why we got a dog!!) Earlier this week she found a "cute wormy" and when I asked her to kindly take it back outside, she put it back in what she thought was it's home...a tree... and then was horrified when a bird snatched it up right before her eyes. Oopsie...the circle of life? (And yes I told her where worms really live so this will not happen again.) At the dog park beach, she found a lady bug that she named "Spots". Lucky for me Spots flew away.

Here we are in the wind and waiting for the storm to erupt. I love this picture Eddie took of Kat. So turbulent and reflective...kinda like a preteens life, no?

Carl's Birthday

In honor of Carl, this post will be typed in blue (his fav color). For his Birthday Breakfast in Bed, he ordered bacon, bagels with cream cheese and strawberries. Umm mmm good. He had school, so the party didn't get to go on all day but he took Lick 'em Aids to school as a treat (which was a lot easier than those ice cream cone cupcakes he usually has me make). Then for the actual partying, he only wanted to invite his buddy Ron's family over for Hawaiian Haystacks, only the Pig Out must have made an impression because he wanted to do that again.

Here is the Pig Out slightly psychotic looking cake.

And the Birthday Boy with a messy face!

Carl is a can-do type kid. He works and works on something until he gets it just right. He is interested in/obsessed (his word) with playing the piano, playing soccer or basketball, playing with the new DS he got for his birthday and anything Pokemon related. He is a terrific brother, a big teaser and is just so much fun to be around. We love you so much Carl!

Eastery Thoughts

This was kind of a funny Easter. The EB came before church which meant that the kids hunted in their pajamas at 7am. I had meetings after church and then we went to a friends house for dinner. That was it. There was no hunting for eggs in cute Easter dresses, gloves and hats. Hmmm. Need to work on that (if for nothing else than cute pics on the blog) for next year.
Alley did attend a cool F.I.G. activity where they learned how to and made Ukrainian Easter Eggs. It made me want to go and buy the gear to do it every year. It looked like so much fun plus you get to use fire, and cool tools and really strong beautiful, vibrant colors of dye. Ohhh ahhhh! Plus, hello creativity. Much better than plunking the eggs into cups of vinegar solution praying that someone doesn't upset the balance. Quality over quantity, especially when no one in my family actually eats the eggs (I can only eat so many).
Anyway, the best part for me is always the Cadbury's Easter Creme Eggs. YUM-O! My gal pal from England "EGG" (incidentally, EGG is in the Showcase photo with me, she is in the pink with the blonde wig) loves them as much as I do, so we had fun sharing them with each other. Too bad they are a once a year treat, I think I gained back several of the pounds I'd been working so hard to lose just trying to make the most of the luxury of having them!
