A Day for Maglet, the Six Year Old

Maglet wanted to start her birthday with bacon and Eggo waffles for breakfast. She has been talking about all the things she wanted to do on her special day: go to Chuck E Cheese for lunch, get a pedicure and a manicure, go to Build a Bear Workshop, go to McDonald's for dinner and then go bowling. We were able to work a couple of them out but thankfully not all! Whew!

Here she is with her confetti cake cheesing for the camera.

How many boyfriends?

Yes! Aunt N's lap to herself AND a DS!!

A birthday nap with Mom, not what she would have ordered but welcome just the same!

Pedicures and Manicures for the party girls.

Cute Cousins after the spa treatment, can't you see the relaxation on their faces?
What a spunky and delightful girl you are Mag. We are glad you came to our family to keep us all on our toes and laughing. I can't believe you are six years old, you still feel like my baby but when I see pictures of you here, I see you are a beautiful young lady. Happy Birthday Maglet, we love you!

Carl's Birthday

In honor of Carl, this post will be typed in blue (his fav color). For his Birthday Breakfast in Bed, he ordered bacon, bagels with cream cheese and strawberries. Umm mmm good. He had school, so the party didn't get to go on all day but he took Lick 'em Aids to school as a treat (which was a lot easier than those ice cream cone cupcakes he usually has me make). Then for the actual partying, he only wanted to invite his buddy Ron's family over for Hawaiian Haystacks, only the Pig Out must have made an impression because he wanted to do that again.

Here is the Pig Out slightly psychotic looking cake.

And the Birthday Boy with a messy face!

Carl is a can-do type kid. He works and works on something until he gets it just right. He is interested in/obsessed (his word) with playing the piano, playing soccer or basketball, playing with the new DS he got for his birthday and anything Pokemon related. He is a terrific brother, a big teaser and is just so much fun to be around. We love you so much Carl!

Maglet's 5!!

Maglet started cashing in on being the birthday girl as early as she could (days before). She somehow convinced Jeff that he had to let her paint his toenails because she got to do anything she wanted because it was her birthday. What a good Dad!

Birthday Breakfast in bed: Lucky Charms, bacon and tang...mmmm, what could be finer?

Here she is ready to finally open presents (and showing off her cute cupcake outfit).

She wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese for her special day. So we spent the afternoon playing games and earning tickets. For her birthday dinner she wanted to eat at McDonalds (I'm trying to not take that as a personal affront to my cooking!) so we ate and played some more there and then headed home to blow out some candles and eat cake. What a fun day!

This birthday is an extra special one since this is the year when she gets to go with Gramma Christie to Disney World in Florida all by herself. She has been waiting anxiously for her turn to go and can hardly talk about anything else.

Happy Birthday Sweet Kat...

and Happy Fourth of July to all you Americans I know!

We had our Payne cousins spend the night before and then went to Waterton for the day. It was SO HOT! So we went to the lake to play. Kat, Carl and S-man swam in that glacial water for so long, we couldn't believe it.

The rest of us played on the beach, made forests of driftwood and read books/took naps.

Later Uncle Dare and Aunt N showed up 3 days early to join in the party! What a great surprise! We broke a pinata, had a weinie roast (that was a work of Grandpa's will to build the fire with it being so hot), ate cake and opened her gifts. Such a fun day!

Kat is our sweetheart girl that is always caring about others feelings. She is very responsible and dependable. She works hard to not give up when things don't go right the first time. She makes me laugh because even though she loves to organize, she also loves to hang onto "stuff"...for creations and things. She is having fun experimenting with creative photography...here is one of her shots from her birthday of the driftwood forest and Grandma snoozing in the background. How lucky we are to have you in our family Kat! We love you!
